The Castle of the Dukes of Głogów Archaeological and Historical Museum

The Castle of the Dukes of Głogów, originally built in the 13th century, has undergone extensive damage and reconstruction throughout the years. Today, it houses the Archaeological and Historical Museum, showcasing a diverse collection from various archaeological excavations. One of the museum's highlights is a treasure discovered in 1987, consisting of over 20,000 silver coins, considered one of the largest in Poland. Visitors can also explore an exhibition that depicts the process of national and ethnic exchange in Głogów after World War II.

Market and Sukiennice

After reconstruction efforts that began in 1992, Głogów's Old Town has been revived. The town hall, the tallest in Silesia, stands proudly in the Market Square. Visitors can admire its reconstructed clock and enjoy panoramic views from the observation deck. Additionally, archaeologists uncovered the medieval Cloth Hall during excavation works in the Market Square. The hall consisted of 22 merchant chambers and served as a precursor to modern shopping malls.

Ruins of the Church of St. Mikołaja

The Church of St. Mikołaja, a Romanesque basilica built in the 13th century, was repeatedly destroyed by fires and wars. Unfortunately, its reconstruction proved to be impossible after the destruction in World War II. Currently, preservation works are in progress, and there are plans to make the ruins accessible to tourists in the future. Visitors can appreciate the surviving fragments of the monumental building, such as the tower, perimeter walls, and the Loreto chapel.

Collegiate Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Głogowska Collegiate Church of the Assumption is one of the oldest churches in Poland, with origins dating back to the first Piast rulers. The church underwent significant renovations in the 15th and 19th centuries, resulting in a stunning Gothic three-nave hall structure. Although it was destroyed during the war, ongoing restoration efforts are underway to revive the collegiate church. Notable works, including the famous painting of the Madonna of Głogów by Lucas Cranach the Elder, can be found outside the church.
