POW - A Testament to Patriotism

Yazło Połubiński, a Catholic priest and a prominent figure in the Solidarity movement, was deeply involved in the fight for freedom in the early 1980s. After the end of World War I, Poland finally regained its independence after 123 years of occupation. However, the celebration was short-lived as the country faced battles, including the Soviet invasion. One of the bloodiest battles took place in Voltsławek. A pillar was erected to commemorate the lives lost, but sadly, it was destroyed by the German Nazis during World War II. Under communist rule, the monument couldn't be rebuilt.
