Kutna Termini: A Strategic Hub for Rail Freight in Poland
Kutna Termini, located in the geographical center of Poland, serves as a crucial transit point for rail freight. Situated on the east-west main rail line, the terminal offers convenient access to various destinations across Europe and beyond. Established in 2011, the terminal underwent a major expansion five years ago, making it capable of handling 250,000 TEUs annually.
The terminal operates round the clock, handling approximately 100 track deliveries and a few hundred track visits per day. With 50 weekly inbound and outbound trains, Kutna Termini boasts a robust transportation network.
Connectivity and Infrastructure
Kutna Termini is strategically located on the main east-west rail line in Poland, making it an integral part of the country's rail network. In addition to serving trains traveling in this direction, the terminal also sends and receives trains to and from Brest in Belarus, where cargo is further distributed to various countries in the Far East.
The terminal operates similarly to a marine terminal, using Rail-Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes to unload trains. With two RMG cranes currently in operation and plans to add a third one soon, Kutna Termini efficiently handles container shuffling between trains and operates a yard served by Reach Stackers. Plans are also underway to acquire Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes for the yard.
European Connections
Kutna Termini offers daily connections to Western Europe, including the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. With 15 weekly departures and arrivals to these locations, the terminal ensures efficient transportation links with the region. Furthermore, the terminal operates trains to Polish seaports such as Gdansk and Szczecin and provides connections to PCC terminals in southern Poland.
Global Reach
Kutna Termini's strategic location and extensive rail connections enable it to reach destinations on a global scale. The terminal offers services to transport containers to Polish seaports, where they can be loaded onto vessels bound for Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and even countries like Mongolia and Kazakhstan. Additionally, Kutna Termini provides additional services such as container cleaning and acts as a customs bonded area, offering customs agency services.
International Standing
Kutna Termini is a member of two rail freight corridors, namely the RFC5 Baltic-Adriatic and RFC8 North Sea-Baltic. As a result, the terminal benefits from its prime location and seamless connections to both Western and Eastern Europe. These international affiliations further enhance Kutna Termini's reputation as a key player in rail freight.
In conclusion, Kutna Termini's central location, extensive rail connections, and state-of-the-art infrastructure make it a strategic hub for rail freight in Poland. With its ability to provide seamless transportation services to various destinations in Europe and beyond, the terminal plays a vital role in facilitating international trade and logistics.
